OCAK 2021 37 2nd Grades’ Laboratory Activities In the 2020-2021 academic year, we organized various activities with our students in order to create a science course infrastructure, to prepare the students for life and to let them learn by doing and living. Some of these activities are as follows; • Color wheel; at this event, we aimed to understand that white has the common appearance of all colors. • Bean experiment; in this experiment, we aimed to observe that beans grow and we harvested our first crops. • Feeding patterns of animals; in this activity, we aimed to get to know the animals closely by classifying themas carnivorous, herbivorous and omnivorous. • I am discovering my skeleton; in this experiment, we aimed to understand the tasks of the skeleton in our bodies. • I am discovering my organs; in this experiment, we aimed to recognize the organs in our body and learn their location. • I eat a balanced regular diet; in this event, we aimed our students to learn how to eat a balanced and regular diet. • Microscopic creatures; in this experiment, we aimed to understand the characteristics of microscopic creatures. • My communication tools; in this experiment, we aimed to recognize the communication tools with recycling materials. • Whether the lemon floats or sinks; in this experiment, we aimed to observe that our lemons and tangerines, which are unpeeled, swim, and those that have been peeled, sink. Even original studies were carried out by our curious students. So that, we investigated how other materials would have consequences. • Digestive T-shirt: In November mid-term break, we asked our students to do activities with their families, and our assignment was to make digestive t-shirts. We closed the semester by doing many such activities with our students, but in the coming semester beautiful experiments are waiting for us, and we are looking forward to making new discoveries.
