ÇEVRE HIGHLIGHTS - 24.SAYI
33 HAZ ø RAN 2023 1) Can you tell me a bit about yourself? Which year did you graduate from Çevre College, which university did you graduate from, and where do you currently live? Hello, I am Büşra. I am a 34-year-old working mother with two children. I work as a Senior Reporting Specialist in the Data Management and Operational Reporting Department at Halbank. I graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, majoring in Statistics. I graduated from Çevre College in 2006, being the first graduate from both the middle school and high school. It holds a very special and unique feeling for me. I see that many things I learned and gained at school have contributed to both my career plans and my life. 2) Do you feel the advantage of being a Çevre College students? I can say that the influence of the math teachers at Çevre College played a role in my choice of major. Not every student likes math, but our teachers taught it to us with enthusiasm. This department offers many career opportunities focused on statistical mathematics, and that’s why I chose this major. Even during my time at university, the Çevre College administration and teachers provided great support for my projects. I have prepared my final project by calculating the success statistics of middle school students using exam grade information, through discussions with the teachers and administration of the Evaluation Department The knowledge we acquired, the experiences we gained, our trips, and activities at school all prepared us very well for life. I feel the difference of being a part of Çevre in every aspect of my life. 3) What are the reasons for choosing Çevre College for your child? My son Kerem’s first choice of school was Çevre Koleji, where I graduated from and where my teachers who raised me are still present. When I was a child, I used to be very picky about food. My English teacher, who is now the high school principal, Nurhan Deniz, used to wait for me every lunchtime to make sure I ate my meal. Without getting bored, she would calmly explain the benefits of all the dishes repeatedly and why I should eat them. Looking back, I am once again amazed by her dedication and patience. Now I see my son’s teacher, Hande Öztürk, and I say “thank goodness” once again. She ensured a good start to his school journey, which began at the age of 3 and will last for years, preparing him for primary school. When a child says “I miss school,” it is proof for a mother that she made the right choice. My son’s happiness at school is the most important criterion for me, but not only that, Çevre Koleji is one of the rare schools where both academic and social activities are carried out equally. Every child is unique, and Çevre Koleji, with its entire staff, prepares them for life by analyzing each of their characteristics in the best possible way. Therefore, this will be the school I will choose for my daughter in 2 years. 4) How does it feel to be a parent in the school where you used to be a student? I was here on the very first day Çevre College Elementary School opened, and I am still here now. Since 1999, I have been witnessing not only my own growth but also the growth of my school. In the same conference hall where I once performed 20 years ago, I am now sitting in the audience seats for my son. I am grateful to be a part of this family and for my children to be a part of it too. Graduate-Parent Interview
