47 HAZ ø RAN 2023 “LÜKÜS HAYAT” with the Participation of Master Actor ZİHNİ GÖKTAY Çevre High School Drama Club students performed the famous musical “LÜKÜS HAYAT,” written by Ekrem Reşit Rey and composed by Cemal Reşit Rey, with the honorary guest participation of the renowned artist ZİHNİ GÖKTAY, the longstanding icon of the “LÜKÜS HAYAT” musical on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 20:00 in the Main Hall of Caddebostan Kültür Merkezi. This play focuses on the foolishness of westernization, which became a fashion apart from being a state policy in the early years of the Republic. It addresses two different classes of society: the lower class, who sustain their lives through theft, and the upper class, who live a “luxurious life” by deceiving each other despite their “rich” identities. In the play, when “Rıza” and “Fıstık,” who make a living through petty thefts, break into a rich house, they find themselves in a costume ball. This new environment they find themselves in represents the situation of people who have fallen into the midst of Westernized attitudes. The contradictions in their lifestyles lead to comical events. Our two-act play, adapted and staged by Burak Uyanık, received great acclaim from the audience with the splendid performances of Burçak Beren Bayram, Bartu Kayar, Ece Özel, Melisa Kaya, Defne Altıntepe, BegümRenda, Maya Çamcı, Nehir Özçolak, Efe Karakaş, Efe Mert Fırat, Kemal Ege Sucu, Ege Sezer, Doruk Eren Uzuner, Deniz Onur Orcan, and Rüzgar Ata Erol. Zihni Göktay, the master actor who honored the play, which all parents and students enjoyed, and who became almost identified with Lüküs Hayat, received a standing ovation for minutes at the end of the play.
